Genital Warts – Similar To Herpes

General Add comments

Genital herpes and genital warts are very similar. Both conditions are usually transmitted through sexual activity, and both can cause disruptions in the skin after the virus erupts. They remain in the system after being contracted.

Genital warts are mostly found on or around the penis and vagina and identified as pink or red growths. They can even be spread to other parts of the body and to other people through contact with the infected regions. Their size varies from barely noticeable to the size of large pimples.

Genital warts often appear in groups of three or four and can spread quite rapidly. At times, mild pain, itching, and even bleeding can occur.

Genital warts are caused by the human papiloma virus, also called HPV. It is a sexually transmitted disease. Over half of middle-aged America has some evidence of being infected by this virus. In most cases genital warts will go away on their own, but with no known cure they can come back.

No one should indulge in sexual contact while genital warts are present. At the least you should always wear a codom. Warts are considered contagious when they are present and can be passed on even if you do wear a condom. It is a risk either way.

Certain types of HPV are known to cause cervical cancer, anal cancer, vulvular cancer, and cancer of the penis. If you believe or know that you have genital warts you should see your doctor regularly for checkups so that abnormal growths can be treated quickly.

There are a number of ways to rid yourself of genital warts but regardless of the method you choose, you must see a doctor about it first. Your doctor can prescribe you a topical medication which you can take home to apply.

Different types of ways to get rid of warts.

  • Cryothreapy – the warts are frozen off.
  • Electrocautery – they are burned off with electricity.
  • Laser surgery – they are burned off with a high-intensity laser.
  • Surgical excision – they are cut out.

All methods can be very painful and all procedures usually leave scars.
